The Church calls for a ban on all homosexual behavior but put the shoe on the other foot and see where it goes.. How effective do you think a universal and complete ban on heterosexual behavior would be? What do you think the rate of adherence would be? Why do you think that gay people are any different?
Frequently accompanying this argument is the assertion that homosexuals have the ability to change.
Again, put the shoe on the other foot. How much pressure would you have to put on a straight, red-blooded American male to get him to have sex with another man? How much pressure would you have to put on this red-blooded American male to motivate him to live with another man in a carnal relationship for the rest of his life? How much pressure would you have to put on this person so that he would actually prefer to live in this carnal state?
The sex drive is found in the amygdala in the limbic part of the brain. Reason and religious views do not and cannot exist in this part of the brain. While it is true that the brain has a gateway in other parts of the brain regulating the sex drive, this gateway does not eliminate the sex drive.
If it were possible, forcing a straight man to live as a homosexual would surely cause severe depression and acute anxiety. Gay people are no different.
